الملخص:
الکلمة هي الوحدة اللفظية الدنيا الدالة على معنى، وهي اسم وفعل وحرف فالاسم هو الذات، والفعل هو الحدث، والحرف هو الواسطة التي تدل على ثبوت الحدث للذات أو نفيه عنها .
رتبة الاسم مقدمة على رتبة الفعل، ورتبة الفعل مقدمة على رتبة الحرف، وترتيب ابن مالک لها في الذکر ترتيب لها في الشرف، ولما کان الاسم هو الأول فإنه لا يجحف به، وکذا الفعل لأنه مشتق من الاسم إلا في مواضع مخصوصة من اجتماع جزم وحرفي علة.
واو العطف لا تفارقها ضميمة الجميع في کل أحوالها وفي جميع أقسامها، فهذه وظيفتها عندما تکون واو عطف وهي کذلک إذا کانت واو حال أو واو قسم، أو واو معية لا تخلو من ضميمة الجمع متى وجدت وأينما حَلَّتْ .
